The multitude of nails in this image, all identical in size, shape and color, represent all of mankind. We are all the same. Color, sex and sin does not make any of us more or less of a sinner.

I was 15 when you made your journey to that place beyond the hills. At 15, you were my everything. My first love, my hero, my Dad. At 15, it didn't matter that I was told that you were with me. All I could understand was that you were gone. I was angry. I was angry with God and maybe even a little angry with you. I could not understand why...why you? I have now lived my life for more years than you were given on this earth. I now understand. We all have a purpose, a destiny. You fullfilled your's in such a short time. You taught me everything a father needed to. And more importantly, you really aren't gone. You continue to live in me and the grandson you never met. He has your eyes, smile, build, wit and purposeful walk. A thin misty veil separates us, a partition between here and there. My faith is different now. I understand it as much as is humanly possible from this side. But after 37 years, one constant still remains the same. I miss you.

Everything in life has it's own timetable and during that process there are lessons to be learned. Sometimes we have control of situations and others we have to put our faith in something bigger than us, something we cannot see. Like the gears and mechanisms of a timepiece, each individual item serves a purpose. Those gears in our personal life may be joy, sadness, death, love....even simple day to day fears and concerns. They are all individual gears. But when we slow down, listen and allow our faith to take hold, those gears in time come together and form a beautiful timepiece. We are all individuals, carrying our own personal set of gears. We are all faced with opportunities that at times, can feel impossible. But if we remember that these gears are for but a season and specific time under heaven, through our faith, in God's timing, we too shall become incredible timepieces.

We are taught from the time we are small children to hold tight to our faith. That our faith will see us through anything. At times we cling tightly to it like a drowning man, others, holding it gently, but loosely. More in the back of our minds than the forefront. I am a simple, flawed person and I don't know much; but I know a few things for sure. One thing I know is, we are not alone. I know it all the way to the very marrow of my bones. So, I will journey through this wilderness of life in search of heaven. I will pray for ears to hear and eyes to see. Because somewhere, out there, it waits. "Money Cannot Buy Heaven"

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matthew 6:24
